Loss of a City’s Identity.
What? Loss of a City’s Identity? Yes, Prescott’s.
Prescott’s City Hall…GONE…Prescott’s Courthouse…gone.
Prescott had a circa 1960 City Hall, diagonal from the monumental Yavapai County Courthouse. It was a small, gracious City Hall Building. Nothing magnificent, but worthy of attention and praise for what it represented. The city’s courts have been using the County Courthouse for years, as it’s Courthouse…very nice.
Now? Not so much. 1960 City Hall has been demo’d. The city bought and moved into a 3-story office building a few blocks away. Prescott’s Courthouse operations are being moved to a building a few blocks away, an ugly 7,600-square-foot commercial building under a lease arrangement.

Both of these new ‘Public Buildings’ do not have any character, any sense of place, a feeling of government, of permanence, of justice.

The local ‘area’ is why people come here, not the City. The City has lost it’s brand. “Hometown”, “Christmas”, nice…but not PRESCOTT. Rodeo, wild west, frontier, cowboys, railroads, Wyatt Earp, Steve McQueen. Kinda like Las Vegas, went family themed in the 90s, it didn't work, went back to 'sin city'.
Let’s think big. Design and build our own courthouse. Replace our squiggly line butte logo with something more dynamic. Let's start a LOGO contest…
Prescott needs an updated LOGO.
