NEW letter from David McNabb BELOW
I must agree with letter writer David whole heartily. No misinformation. No mention of Trump.
I totally disagree with Ron. He goes off on old, tired rants, brings up Trump.

Letter: Mainstream vs. podcasts
Mar 2, 2026

Editor:
I am not on any social media, because I see so many people that spend most of their time on it and I have noticed that they tend to have very skewed views of reality. They often cannot decipher between what is truthful and what is a lie.
They have been told that the "mainstream media" are part of a big conspiracy to push an evil agenda on Americans, trying to brainwash us into thinking a certain way.
I find that those reporting the news on "mainstream" platforms are real journalists with real journalism degrees that follow the journalistic code of ethics - to truthfully report the news and show the facts - as opposed to the social media "podcasters" who are not journalists and are obviously pushing an agenda with no pretending to be unbiased, but with no end of folks who want to push their own views on others.
This is not news and is no better than getting your information from anyone on the street. The mainstream news outlets are mainstream because they have investigators and reporters and fact checkers, and an entire network behind them with a lot to lose if they get something that they report wrong. Thus, they go to great lengths to make sure their reporting is accurate, but there is little or nothing to lose for the podcasters who are not accurate in what they say.
How great it was when everyone listened to Walter Cronkite for their news and he was the most trusted man in the country. We can't get those days back, but we can stop listening to the nonsense on social media and go back to the factual news that is presented in the mainstream media.

Letter: MSM versus social media?
(Mar. 6)

Editor:
When I first read the letter about the credibility and accuracy of the mainstream media (MSM) versus social media and podcasts by David McNabb, I was sure he was being sarcastic. After reading to the end, I realized he was actually serious!
Let me remind Mr. McNabb that it was MSM that had reporters (he calls them real journalists) in Minneapolis, Portland and Seattle with flames pictured behind them from burning cars and buildings, insisting the George Floyd riots were peaceful. And McNabb fails to realize that MSM has chosen several times in the past few years to completely omit, or devote merely a sentence or two, to the vicious murders of young women by illegal criminal immigrants.
The MSM also conveniently omits any successes by the Trump Administration, and the granddaddy of their TDS was editing Kamala’s interview to make it appear she might actually be able to construct a full sentence, and might actually have something intelligent to say.
Social media has its flaws for sure, but the MSM is right on their coattails when it comes to not reporting real news but opinions, misinformation and extremely biased reporting.

Letter: Fact check the news
(Mar 10)
Editor:

In response to Ron Tatar's criticism of my letter suggesting that we are better off getting our news from social media, he provided good example of why that is not where you find factual news. Since he does not watch mainstream media, he gets his misinformation from social media, which never seems to get a story right.
He states, "...it was the MSM that had reporters in Minneapolis, Portland and Seattle with flames pictured behind them from burning cars and buildings, insisting the George Floyd riots were peaceful."
Tatar is going back to May 2020 for this example, but the MSM that I watched never said this was a peaceful protest, so you are listening to podcasters that are not journalists spout their opinions – usually lies and half-truths.
Real news must stand up to factchecking. I have found these sources to be real news: CNN, BBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR and most newspapers. I like CCN the best because they always have the Republican point of view presented by Republicans on their panels, making it the fairest and most balanced news source. I have factchecked it many times and it has always proven to be good. It is also unbiased in its presentation.
Tatar complains that the MSM makes Donald Trump look bad, but when you ARE bad, and the truth is told, you look bad. If you are on social media, at very least, please factcheck what you hear or read, then you will see that you are not being told the truth and will know you are doing the right thing by listening to the truth on the mainstream media – which has a lot to lose by getting it wrong.
