Thank you for this video! My little one from a hill at the march did not begin to show the length and strength. And nothing really shows the strength, caring, concern of those friendly supportive folks that showed up!

The Kent State shootings took place at Kent State University in Ohio during a protest against the U.S. military’s expansion of the Vietnam War into Cambodia. On May 4, 1970, 28 National Guard soldiers fired approximately 67 rounds over 13 seconds, killing four students—Allison Krause, Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Lee Scheuer, and William Schroeder—and wounding nine others, one of whom was permanently paralyzed. Krause and Miller were actively participating in the protest, while Scheuer and Schroeder were bystanders observing from a distance.

Cultural Legacy
The Kent State tragedy left a lasting mark on American culture and politics. Neil Young’s song “Ohio” memorialized the event, and the incident is widely studied as a pivotal moment in the antiwar movement. It also influenced national policy debates, including the eventual end of the draft and shifts in public support for the Vietnam War.
