Television history in Prescott

Post by admin »

Over the air broadcasts (OTA) have been in Prescott since the late fifties. Starting with Chanels 3, 10 and 12 from a booster transmitter on Mt Francis. Prescott homes needed rooftop antennas to get the Phoenix stations from the booster.
Well, that is true today. Put an antenna on your roof, connect it to the back of your TV with a coax cable and get your TV to scan for local channels. And, before you know it you have those same channels, but now in digital High Definition (HD). Up until 2006, it was analog transmissions, then digital replaced analog and we now have great HD broadcast Channels, and SD, standard definition, but still digital.
My flat screen TV found 27 stations, including ABC, CBS, FOX, AZfamily (6 stations), and 45.2, a great movie channel. There are more, but it depends on your antenna and where you live.
